{"id":88,"date":"2013-05-07T18:18:39","date_gmt":"2013-05-07T18:18:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rustamirani.com\/?p=88"},"modified":"2013-05-07T18:18:39","modified_gmt":"2013-05-07T18:18:39","slug":"the-turtle-and-the-hare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rustamirani.com\/?p=88","title":{"rendered":"The Turtle and the Hare"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Posted on 08-06-2010 | By: <b>Rustam<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>THE TURTLE AND THE HARE<\/b><\/p>\n<p>One of my daughters favorite stories before bed is the story of the \u201cTurtle and the Hare\u201d and as most of you know the moral of the story is:\u00a0 SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE.<\/p>\n<p>In life and in business there are many free resources to help us succeed, it\u2019s up to us to utilize these to our benefit.\u00a0 The problem is, there are SO many resources, that we try to use all of them and get nowhere with any of them.\u00a0 Sound familiar?<\/p>\n<p><b>BEST ONLINE RESOURCE TO SLOWLY BUILD YOUR VALUE<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Over the last year I have been building my professional network online through <b>Linked-in<\/b>, an online networking site for professionals.\u00a0 Linked-in is absolutely free and has over 40 million professionals from every field imaginable.\u00a0 Linked-in will allow you to build your resume online, connect with other professionals, seek potential employees, and help you generate business. (my favorite part)\u00a0 I believe this is one of those free resources, that everyone should absolutely use and master.\u00a0 Below I have laid out my success strategy for building a VALUABLE professional network using Linked-in.<\/p>\n<p><b>SOME ACCOMPLISHMENTS<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Within this last year, I have increased my number of QUALITY connections from 25 to nearly 400 and I am adding on average 3-5 a day.\u00a0 Please note, the fact that I am adding QUALITY connections and not just anyone.\u00a0 Over the last year, I have had numerous candidates respond to job postings, have connected with most of the top CEO\u2019s in our industry, improved my image and credibility, and generated actual SALES.\u00a0 All from spending a few minutes a day.\u00a0 Even if you believe time is money, this is a HUGE Return on Investment. (ROI)<a href=\"http:\/\/rustamirani.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/linkedin-connections-real-estate-training.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-90 alignright\" alt=\"linkedin-connections-real-estate-training\" src=\"http:\/\/rustamirani.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/linkedin-connections-real-estate-training-300x236.png\" width=\"210\" height=\"165\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rustamirani.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/linkedin-connections-real-estate-training-300x236.png 300w, https:\/\/rustamirani.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/linkedin-connections-real-estate-training.png 375w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 210px) 100vw, 210px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here are my criteria for a QUALITY CONNECTION.<\/p>\n<p><b>QUALITY CONNECTION CRITERIA:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>Does my company currently do business with them?<\/li>\n<li>Are they a decision maker for their business?<\/li>\n<li>Are they an active member in my industry and do they have a lot of connections?<\/li>\n<li>Is this a good contact for hiring future employees?<\/li>\n<li>Is this a good connection for future business?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Once you have decided on the criteria for your connections, it\u2019s important to have a GAME PLAN to build your profile.\u00a0 Below are 7 STEPS to BUILDING A VALUABLE PROFESSIONAL PROFILE:<\/p>\n<p><b>7 STEPS TO BUILDING A VALUABLE PROFILE<\/b><\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>If you haven\u2019t already, create a Linked-in profile at: http:\/\/www.linkedin.com<\/li>\n<li>Update your information and have a goal of getting your profile to 100% complete.<\/li>\n<li>Initially search and connect with people you already know.\u00a0 This way you will have a greater chance of acceptance from a connection.<\/li>\n<li>Set a GOAL of 5 new connections EVERY DAY.\u00a0 I send about 25 invitations a week.\u00a0 Initially I was getting about a 65% acceptance, but now I am at almost 100%.\u00a0 The <b>KEY is QUALITY<\/b>!\u00a0 Also, when you get a invite, DON\u2019T accept everyone.\u00a0 Revert back to your criteria and see if they are a good fit.<\/li>\n<li>Groups Tab:\u00a0 Click on the groups tab and find groups that are related to your business or interests.\u00a0 This is one of the best and most underutilized resources.\u00a0 Once your a member of a group, you can connect with other members of the group and they will most likely accept your invite.<\/li>\n<li>Get involved.\u00a0 Once you join a group, contribute to an interesting discussion or start your own.\u00a0 Don\u2019t spend too much time, but definitely contribute something useful.<\/li>\n<li>Once you connect with someone, send a thank you response to the person who connected with you.\u00a0 Here is an example:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Thank you for accepting my connection request.
